Fred Bacon Boxted
« on: Friday 10 June 11 09:52 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about the later life of Fred BACON born Boxted near Colchester 1868
1881 census Boxted
1886 joined Manchester Regiment
1891 census Ashton barracks
1890's Famous athlete.
1901 census Boxted
1902 Maintenance order by a court in Colchester and Ashton.
(In the Ashton report it mentions how lenient Colchester had been and "we have a much better feeling for the ladies here." ! Wife awarded 12s 6d per week)
c1908-1912 trainer at Manchester United
1911 census not found

I know a lot up to 1902 but after that virtually nothing-not even when he died. There are so many Fred Bacons. Hope someone can shed some light on his later life
Many thanks
Glenn

If he was a trainer at Manchester United you might find him in Lancashire in 1911  ;D
You have his birth as 1868- have you tried the 1871 one that Louisa Maud suggested.

This looks liks his son too  ;)

someone on 1891 has corrected his details, he was shown as aged 22 as a soldier but his d of b is now corrected as 1871 and not previoulsly stated on the census

IF he was a naughty boy towards his wife do you think there might have been a divorce?

I can confirm that Fred is alive and well in 1911! In Stretford.
And still with wife, daughter and son.
