Divorce Early 1950s? COMPLETED THANKS!
« on: Thursday 16 June 11 10:38 BST (UK) »
Hi
Can anyone tell me or provide a link which would tell me about the grounds for divorce in the early 1950s?

In particular I am seeking any reference to the length of time a divorce took before Decree Absolute?

Somewhere in the recesses of an aging brain I had the feeling it was 7 years apart (separation) or less if it was desertion or adultery?

I cannot find my way around the www.new zealand government legislation site! ???
Thanks
Dale

Hi again

.... do you mean the length of time between a Decree Nisi and a Decree Absolute ??

Auckland Regional Office of Archives NZ have a most helpful fact sheet (Divorce Records - Sheet # 4) .       View or download a copy, at the following link.

Hi Lucy2
Thank you so much- the Auckland paper was very informative!
I had the thought in my mind there must be something somewhere!
I'll ask Archives for the Divorce Register entry first and then consider whether it is necssary to ask the Court for permission to view the file!
Many thanks
Dale
