Uniform photo
« on: Thursday 16 June 11 12:56 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

There doesn't look much to go on with the attached photo of my uncle, Frederick Parker, but I would value any information that readers might glean from his badges and medals.

He was born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, in 1908 and in 1941 had a London address. He then lived in London until his death in 1975.

Thanks, Roger

He has the 39-45 ribbon followed by the Itay Star and then the Defence Medal ribbons showing and the Y (white letter Y on a black background) on the upper arm denotes the 15th Corps.

Thanks for that.

Can you please expand on what you mean by 15th Corps? This site (http://www.unithistories.com/units_index/default.asp?file=../units_british/units_british.html) lists 12 WWII corps but doesn't mention a 15th.

Thanks, Roger

I agree with Rowley about the medal ribbons but, the "Y" on his shoulder is the divisional sign for the 5th Infantry Division.
Bomber Command 39/45.
