look up,for marriage
« on: Thursday 16 June 11 22:01 BST (UK) »
Hello,I am trying to find the marriage of my grandparents,Patrick Cashin to Mary Lonergan,I can only think that it was sometime about 1911,my grandfather's birth is 1877,grandmother 1891.
They lived in Durrow laois and died there, grandfather died in 1961,grandmother 1957.

I am guessing the year as their  eldest daughter Mary was born in 1912.

Grandmothers father was Thomas Lonergan ,mother Mary.

granddads father was William and mother ,Margaret Kelly

I have searched the LDS,but cant find anything,I tried searching Abbeyleix as their deaths were registered there, but, still nothing.
I would be grateful for any help.

Have you located Patrick and Mary on the 1911 census to confirm where they are living, and see if they are married at that time ?

p.s. was Mary born in Durrow ?

wouldn't 1911 be a little early then for a marriage ?

I found a possible marriage but it's quite a bit later than you mentioned :

  Name: Patrick Cashin
  Registration district:   Abbeyleix
  Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Jan - Mar 1918
  Volume : 3 / Page : 257

  name:   Mary Lonergan
  [same index references as Patrick]

are you sure about Mary Cashin's year of birth ?

I think that should be 1901 - Lonergan family

I presume this is Patrick and his family in 1911 - Cashin household

and this looks like it may be the Lonergan family in 1911... but Mary jnr is absent..  Lonergan household

yes they are the right family.

I had the wrong date on the census, when she was 9 was the 1901 census.

they are her family Lonergans, which i had,it was mainly the marriage which was confusing me.

Shane !I keep forgetting how to go back if a message comes through ,while i am typing, remind me ,if you will, what do i click on.

yes they are the correct family,
I was checking my tree,it seems they had a child Mary in 1912 then son William 1914 and then Margaret 1918.
after those they had another 5 i beleive. It seems they weren't married untill their 3rd child,it seems hard to beleive as they were catholics so i would of thought it would be difficult way back then.

I have all the memorial cards for their children.
