Under Enniscorthy Workhouse website I found this line- "Enniscorthy was also the home of the Wexford County Lunatic Asylum, situated on the opposite bank of the River Slaney."

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The Hospital is called St Senan Psychiatic Hospital and its still a Hopsital but it not currently taking any new admissions.
'Enniscorthy District Lunatic Asylum for the Insane Poor of Mind' opened in 1868. Suggestions that the design drawings were originally intended for a colonial army barracks at Pretoria in South Africa

Hi,

Ancestry's section 'The Lawrence Collection of Photographs' (1870-1910) has this picture of an Asylum at Enniscorthy - might by the same one you're thinking of? I'm not sure how clear the writing will come out, but at the bottom, it has written on it 'Lunatic Asylum, Enniscorthy'.
