Marriage mystery
« on: Tuesday 21 June 11 13:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I've been trying to find a marriage record for James Strudwick to ELizabeth ???.  I searched FreeBMD and couldn't find anything.  So I was thinking they didn't marry.  However, I found the below extracted record on IGI:

James Strudwick & ELIZABETH SMALLPIECE
Marriage:  28 APR 1844   Thames Ditton, Surrey, England

If this is correct, why does it not come up on FreeBMD and how can I get further details of it i.e. father's names?

In case anyone needs them for reference, in 1851 they are on HO107/1604, 11 (Thames Ditton) and in 1861 RG9/457, 30, Pg 11 (Thames Ditton).

Thanks

It is there but indexed as Shudwick. Kingston, Surrey, Vol 4 , page 187. Apr-June 1844.

BTW there is no claim that freeBMD contains every record.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

Hi Jo

The marriage certificate for this one is on Ancestry
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921

and if the family were in Claygate after the marriage there are possible baptisms on there too (John, Charles, Frances, Jonah, George Wm, Joseph, Emma, Henry and also an Eliza in Cobham)

Thank you.

I am also looking for a marriage between a James Strudwick and an Elizabeth , however on one of their childrens birth certificates (b1856 in South Moreton, Berkshire) it states the mother was an Elizabeth Martin.

I know this Elizabeth was born in Cobham circa 1821 and their first child Frank was also born in Surrey but I just cannot find a marriage for this. Its got me stumped it has.
