Hello All,

This is a follow up to a previous topic that had no replies. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,538817.0.html

I am sure that I will not be the only one who has wondered about this subject, and so far I have found:

Geve - Gevesoft.co.uk - I have the trial and it is absolutely wonderful for adding census data all in one go. Other forms, eg marriage, are also catered for. Input is wonderful, and easy to read once there, but output leaves a lot to be desired. This is MY opinion.

Genealogy Research System at deltadrive.co.uk. Web site has a very good description, but no trial period, or screen shots.

Lineascope - Lineascope.com - YouTube tutorials, and a Blog.

Has any one tried any of these?
Are there any other similar programmes?

Not a programme as such, but a website:

Encourages you to source everything and allows you to write a biography too.  Is a collaborative website, so others can edit what you've contributed and this can lead to helpful discussions about the robustness of the conclusions you've drawn.  Here's an example of a page I've done:

Thank You Richard,

I had had a fleeting look at werelate.org some months ago, but was looking for something for my own computer.
But perhaps I could research one person there, and then copy for my rellies who are not computer savvy, etc.
Have you had any one finding you thru the werelate site?

PS. I am a direct descendant of Cox in Northamptonshire - Hardingstone and Braefield on the Green - Wrighton is another surmane.

Hi Jean

No-one has yet found me via it - I think its users at the moment are heavily US-based whereas all my trees are British Isles-based.  However, it does make it a lot easier to share your research with others who've found you both other means - simply send them a link.  I particularly like the fact that all your information you choose to put in is on one web-page for each person - unlike many software programmes where a simple view is presented and you have to know how to dig around to both add and view the sources.  On WeRelate you can see at a glance if there are any sources and what they are.

PS - my Coxes are from the other end of Northamptonshire - it's over 40 miles from Barnack to Hardingstone.  I've got back to Thomas Cox who turned up to marry in Barnack in 1798 and died before he could appear in a census to say where he was from.
