Islington baptisms poser
« on: Wednesday 22 June 11 20:04 BST (UK) »
Anyone have any idea how I can track the name of person from their baptism date?
I have half a baptism certificate!!  :'(
From .... John's, Duncan Terrace, N1 (presumably St Johns)
The information on it contains - born 28 May 1876 baptised 16 Jul 1876.
Also God mothers name
I contacted the Diosecan Archivist but for those particular records "there is simply a gap".  :(

Hi

Would you list ALL the information on it, including the Godma's name?
Even if you do not think it will help, it might.

Hi

You could contact the church to find out where the registers are:

http://www.stjohnsislington.org/index.html

It's a Catholic church so the registers may still be with the parish.

I have already done that Maryam (please see my original post) - just wondering if there is a back up copy held somewhere?  :)

Hi

1) "Apparently" there is some "recent" movement with the RC church and FindMyPast regarding registers?
Anyone know anything relevant?

2) At the risk of upsetting anyone..........
was the original request asking for
a) "how do i go about finding" (I will leave that to other, far more accomplished minds than mine)
OR
b) "Will someone help me find"?  (then I AM that "gofer")

2b or not 2b, that IS the .................  :-)
Sorry about the unintended pun

I would like every (part)word (even scan?) of the partial piece of paper, but I for one will have a go with what has been said.

Hi CroxleyGreen

My reply is either 2a or 2b!! I have run out of ideas!!!!

The piece of paper that I have is a copy from a register made at a later date. In print it says - "true and correct extract from the Register of Baptisms kept at the above Church. -------------- 19...." Next to the 19 in pen is 43 (which I have only just noticed is a 4 as I thought it was "t")

I do not have permission from the owner to scan the document onto here sorry.

Hi

Just a theory.....

The person involved
1876/May/28  born
1876/Jly /16   baptised St.Johns, Duncan Street, Roman Catholic Church
1943             copy of baptism obtained
Sara Grady     Godparent
Surname of someone may end "lsh"

So, has someone obtained a baptism copy for a recently deceased person?
