St Margarets at Cliffe Monumental Inscriptions
« on: Friday 24 June 11 23:33 BST (UK) »
Just wondering if there are any Monumental Inscriptions for St Margarets at Cliffe available and if anyone has access to them. I'm interested in William Marsh born c1770 husband of Sarah and father of William. I'm hoping that if William has a MI that it will indicate who his parents were. I don't know when he died but I think it was before 1841.

Regards,

Leigh

Thank you Bearkat! I have seen the MIs on the Kent Archaelogy website but not the wills which I'll have to investigate further.

The marriage information for William and Sarah was interesting as it does indicate William was at least living at St Margarets at Cliffe at the time of his marriage. Sarah Belsey was baptised at Alkham, the daughter of Alexander Belsey and Ann Brooke on April 16th 1760.

There are a few baptisms for William Marsh at St Margarets from 1740 to 1770 so William could be any of them except I think for the one bp 1770, the son of William Marsh and Mary Broughton who I believe married Elizabeth Sutton in 1794.

I wondered if William was from Alkham or a neighbouring village as Sarah was from there.

I'll have to continue looking!

Thanks again, much appreciated.
