Photo dating/Comments

Attached is photo of young man who I think could be James Henry Nickolls born 1883; so if here he is say 12 makes photo around 1895?
Also photo of girl who I am pretty sure is Amy Berta Nickolls. This photo also appears on a locket with a lock of hair within suggesting she died at a young age. Amy was born 1878 and died 1898.

I would put them both in their teens Roy,the girl in particular looks very young.

Yes, I suggest the boy was in his late teens, although people did seem to age quicker in that period.

The girl is also not very well.
Look at the dark circles under her eyes.
If it is Amy, did she die from TB?

Many people have dark rings under their eyes, whether or not they have TB.

This is true, Red, it was just a suggestion.

It's not just the dark rings that gave me the idea, but her slightly sunken eyes and general demeanour seemed to say it too.  You'd be amazed what you can tell from people's eyes, when you know what to look for.
