Hi VeronicaC, welcome to Rootschat. Here is the picture, if you can't read the inscription I can send the transcript. Let me know if this is the right family and I'll have a look through the burial records for anything else that may be there.

Here you are, if you can't read the text let me know. The inscription for the Baillie & Reid stone is - "Erected by Ann Reid in memory of her husband William Baillie who died 21st May 1875 aged 48 years. The above Ann Reid died 9th October 1902 aged 77 years". Not a good snapshot of this stone, sorry. The weeds are allowed to grow unchecked in this place. I will have to send 2 on this message and 2 in the next message.

Hello again Lodger. Thank you for the previous photos. they were a great help. Could I ask for one more this being - REID & CAMPBELL of Omoa - from your second listing, I missed it the first time round. Thank you again, regards jefarn123.

Thank you Lodger for the photo of REID + CAMPBELL of Omoa very much appreciated.

Is there any way of finding out if Ann Reid, the wife of Dr. James Baillie, is actually buried in the gravesite?

Kind regards jefarn

I've had a look at what records survive, unfortunately the old churchyard Plot Book only begins at 1876, so the only one recorded is Frances 1904. The gravediggers Day Book covers 1875 but I don't know how reliable it is, it seems to cover paupers burials more than anything and the new cemetery burials are included. Out of the 24 burials recorded in the old churchyard in July 1875 just over half were children and infants. Cholera was rife in the area at the time so perhaps the book was not kept up to date?
Usually, if the headstone inscription doesn't say otherwise, the person is buried there. It does state that Helen is buried at Warreston.
