I suspect you may well have records for David Muirhead's parents, Robert Muirhead (1799-1872) and Lydia Lithgow. I haven't studied much of their family, always curious about those that emigrated. David Muirhead was a Coalminer as was his father. Robert and Lydia lived their married lives in Wishaw and interestingly at 135 Main St., the street where many of the Douglas relatives also lived!

Teya, here are the details for Robert Muirhead & Lydia Lithgow.

There were two stones on this plot, I only have a picture of one of them, the other may have been damaged, I don't know. The picture is of the older of the two and is difficult to decipher, it is very worn, as you can see.
The best I can do is -

"Mary Weir wife of Robert Muirhead died 21st February 1847 in the 23rd year of her age. William Muirhead their son died 17th October  ....... aged ...... ".

the inscription for other stone is -
"William Muirhead died 8th May 1914. His wife died 24th March 1927". (no mention of her name but it's in the Plot Book below).

The records state that the plot was owned by Mary Weir but, I'd take this with a big pinch of salt.

The details from the Plot Book (only from 1879).

In the South lair -
WILLIAM MUIRHEAD, aged 36 years. 11th May 1914.
JANE MUIRHEAD, aged 70 years. 26th March 1927.
In the Centre lair -
LYDIA MUIRHEAD, aged 64 years. 11th February 1886.
EMILY MUIRHEAD, aged 24 years. 2nd November 1891.
EDWARD FORD, aged 46 years. 2nd March 1892.
In the North lair -
ROBERT MUIRHEAD, aged 21 years. 29th January 1883.
ROBERT MUIRHEAD, aged 80 years. 13th March 1900.

Information taken from the Day Book of interments -

MARGARET MUIRHEAD, Wishaw, aged 3 years.
Parents - Robert Muirhead & Lydia Lithgow.
Interred in the old churchyard, 2nd December 1863.

STILLBORN MALE MUIRHEAD. Wishaw.
Parents - Robert Muirhead & Lydia Lithgow.
Interred in the old churchyard, 23rd May 1868.

ANDREW MUIRHEAD, Wishaw, aged 10 months.
Parents - Robert Muirhead & Lydia Lithgow.
Interred in the old churchyard, 17th March 1871.

WILLIAM MUIRHEAD, coalminer, Wishaw, aged 56 years, married.
Parents Robert Muirhead & Lydia Lithgow.
Interred in the old churchyard, 11th May 1914.

Finally, here's one I think I missed earlier!

ROBERT MUIRHEAD, Wishaw, aged 8 months.
Parents - David Muirhead & Isa Hamilton.
Interred in the old churchyard, 20th April 1875.

Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

Hi Lodger,

I'd appreciate any further details you have for:

WHITE, Robert 1854

And, if you have time (the ones below are 'long shots' so no rush):

GARDNER, McDONALD & HADDOW

HADDOW & MILLER

STEEL & HADDOW

Many thanks,
Bella

Hi Bella,

The 1st query, White.
According to the Plot Book, it was owned by William White and Joseph Clark.
Interred in the plot are the names Clark and Armstrong.
Does this ring any bells?
The stone inscription reads -
"1854 Erected by William White in memory of his brother Robert......" rest has worn away, sorry.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

Thank you for pointing out an issue with Robert Douglas and Agnes Young entry. I discovered I made a separate entry causing slight confusion on my end. Now all fixed up and yes they are part of my Douglas family. Robert Douglas (married to Agnes Young) is the youngest son of Robert Douglas and Elisabeth Brounlee.

The William Lyle family in the Centre lair, Wm 70 yrs and Ann 79 might be married with William being the son of William Lyle and Anne Brounlie. More work needed here. In the north lair - the second Ann Lyle is daughter of Wm Lyle and Anne Brounlie. Ann Murray and Archibald Ross might be grandchildren to Lyle/Brounlie. More work needed here!
So far you’ve managed to connect all these folk with my gang. Fantastic!
