New York Port Records: Lookup

 Looking for Eckhart Kalbfleisch born about 1819 (Alsfeld or Darmstadt) Hessen Germany and wife Anna Maria born about 1818 and daughter Anna (also born Germany about 1839) ... who settled in Perth County Ontario (early 1840s). I have reason to believe they canme through New York City. I know from the 1861 Ontario census .. that their next child (after Anna) was Henry (born Ontario about 1843. Soooo that has me looking for them landing in a ship at N.Y .. some where between 1839 and 1843. Again .. ship record would give Eckart (Eckhardt) and Anna Maria and dau: Anna .. with their possible distination listed as Upper Canada (which is what S Ontario .. would be called in 1840s)
 Can any body find them in the N.Y Port Records (1820 - 1957) .. and I know sometimes one can find a corresponding record in the New York Daily Times (listing about the docking of the ship etc ... or at least I found this for a ship that docked at N.Y in the 1850's)
William Stephenson - born 1814 at Doncaster West Yorkshire - married Mary Scott at Cottingham East Yorkshire (Hull) in 1838. Williams parents I believe were another Wm Stephenson and an Alice Carter - married Cantley Parish W Yorks (Doncaster) in 1811..... Other east riding names are Nicholls (Bridlington, Yorks and Wigan Lancs.) and the surname Withernwick.

Have you tried checking http://www.castlegarden.org/?  It's free. 

The New York Times archives are available here: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercenter/nytarchive.html  Articles from before 1923 are free on there.

 thanks .. that gives me a start. Think I have found the mother .. Anna Maria Kalbfleisch age: 23 .. ship: ELARD .. arrived(N.Y.): 22 Jul 1841 . port of departure: BREMEN
