Hi susyswan,

On the IGI there is an extracted entry for;
Sarah PURDUE, born 11-7-1812, Bapt. 26-11-1812 d/o John & Sarah,  in the
Ebenezer Weslayan Ch. Hungerford, Berks. This parish is not too far away from Newbury.

The alternative would be to post a request on the Oxfordshire board to see if anyone has the
PRs for Kidlington which may indicate when she married in 1833, where Sarah came from.

She is shown on several censuses as being born in Newbury - the parish records of which are not in the IGI. The ages given in the censuses are a little 'flexible' suggesting she was born over a 4/5 year period around 1815.

She married Thomas Willoughby in 1833 in Kidlington Oxfordshire. she is in the 1881 census as being born about 1815. in the 1896 census she is down as aged 74. which would make her birth 1817. doe's any one know where i can find the parish records for Newbury. are they on fich or cd.

Berkshire Record Office, Newbury Library or an LDS Family History Centre.  Burials on the Berks FHS Buirial Index; some marriages (1799-1838) on their Marriage Index.

Hi Susyswan,

There is this baptism in the parish of Speen, Newbury:

16/1/1814 Sarah Ann Purdue daughter of John & Hannah Purdue

also this marriage in Speen:

26/10/1812 John Purdue & Hannah Eagleton

There was also a baptism for:

Elizabeth Purdy daughter of John & Hannah Purdy 24/4/1815
and  this burial: 26/4/1815 Elizabeth Purdy (infant)
(I thought this could have been a sister of Sarah Ann Purdue as I could not see a marriage for a John & Hannah Purdy.)

I had a look to see if there was a baptism for a John Purdue (no luck) and a Hannah Eagleton in the Speen records but didn't find one but there was this baptism:

4/8/1793 Israel son of Samuel & Hannah Eagleton

also there was this marriage:

30/1/1790 Moses Eagleton & Amelia Carter

(thought it might be worth storing  these Eagleton records to see if they fit into your tree at a later date.)
