Please can anyone help with finding marriages?
« on: Friday 01 July 11 12:02 BST (UK) »
Good morning everyone

I have been trying to track down two marriages for a couple of ancestors without any luck and I wondered if anyone would be able to help me please?

The two ladies in question I have only been able to find in 1871 not in 1881 or subsequent census' so wondered if they married around 1881+ or they died. ???

Their names were Louisa H (Harriett I think) born 1866 in Islington and her sister

Mary L (Louisa) born in 1864 in Islington.

Their fathers name would have been William Henry Leech and he was a Carpenter, I am hoping marriages might be found for them with him as their father.

In 1881 Louisa would have been about 15 and Mary about 17.

Many thanks for any help.

Kind regards

Have you found their brother George b 1868/1869 on any later census

Have you found a death for either parent on freebmd?

If their father died - their mother may have re-married pre-1881 - she was only 29 in 1871

Possible 1891 for George

Hi

Sorry, this may not be much help BUT I also can't find any marriages or even deaths for the two, are any of these possibilities:

-Their mother got remarried and they changed their names
-They were spinsters and lived past the 1940's (general cut off line for Free BMD which is what I'm using)
-They went in to service and remained unmarried and alive past the 1940's (")
-They emigrated

ps Louisa's middle name appears to be 'Harrey,' daughter of William Henry and Mary.

From a pm I received from Cranstone - their mother died in 1882 and they are not with their father in 1881

I'm starting to lean to the possibility they married or died under their step-father's name (if there is one).

Or am I missing the point, did William Henry outlive her? Then I'm not sure...

I've found a possible marriage for Mary -

Mary Ann Leech, 18, Bethnal Green, William Leech, carpenter.
John Horsley Bather (or Bother), 19, Bethnal Green, John Horsley Bather, collector.
27 Dec 1880, St James the Great, Bethnal Green.
Witnesses William Leech and Mary Jane Newman
