Thomas, Head's son, 26, Ag lab and pensioner, Moreton Say
Mary, Daur, 10, Scholar, Moreton Say
James, Son, 8, Moreton Say

Higginswood, Moreton Say

George Penlington, Serv, U, 19, Ag lab, Moreton Say

There could be more of the same name but a whole section is so faint I cannot be sure what the names are.

Hi Bev,

I've got Penlingtons mostly around Audlem, but I was trying to find the parents of Joseph b abt 1795, and IGI gave a possible bap in 1794 in Moreton Say with the parents being Joseph & Hannah.

Do you have a Joseph (he married a Sarah - I think 1821 Jennings) and had Ann, Martha, Sarah, Benjamin, George, Margaret , tho not necessarily in that order !

Do get in touch if any of this looks like it might fit !

the Joseph and Hannah you mention are my 3xGGrandparents.  Their son Alexander was my 2xGGrandfather,  I've managed to trace some of his siblings on the earlier census but I've never found anything for your Joseph. 
I'm certain that I have the right family and if you're certain that you have the right Joseph then there is a definate connection between us................exciting isn't it!
I've got a bit of info on the siblings if you would like it

I don't know if it is the right Joseph or not - I was hoping you'd have some info that I could compare with what I've got to see if they 'mesh' together !!

'My' Joseph, according to 1851 census was born abt 1795, but he gives the place of birth as 'Hankelow' (in Audlem area) - he was living with his wife Sarah (?nee Jennings), b c 1796 and family in Hatherton Cheshire. I haven't been able to find another Joseph on IGI that comes close apart from 'your' Joseph, but the place of birth isn't right !
Having said that, I know that Hankelow/ Hatherton/ Audlem are all near the Shropshire border, & families intermingled between the two counties (& Staffs !), so I thought it possible that he could have been born in one place but moved to another in early childhood, and therefore thought that was where he was born (if you've followed all that !!)

I suspected that Joseph had a brother called James, who crops up in the same area with children with the same names (very confusing !) - none of them have been called Alexander tho', which is not a good sign !

Hi Chris, your post was such a long time ago you have probably found the parents to Joseph now?

Benjamin Penlington and Mary Shuker?  they are my 4x great grandparents.

Hi Bev,

Yes, eventually I found definite evidence that Benjamin was Joseph's father - it was in a will that someone let me have a copy transcript of !
