LYSONS Westbury (Horsebridge)

Can anyone provide me with information about the birth of Edward Lysons. Working on census data he was born in Westbury in 1813 +/-
He married (in 1842) Mary Ann Price who was born in either Buttington (Montgomeryshire) (1851 census) or Alberbury (1881 census)

Many of their family moved to Manchester including my g-grandmother (their daughter) Emma (b 1861, Westbury) and we have info about them there, but we have nothing about Edward's birth, his parents or anything further back. Any info will be gratefully received.

Can only find one baptism of an Edward Lysons, in Eaton Constantine (16 miles from Westbury).

30 May 1810, parents Edward Lysons(transcribed as licence and Lysons) and Ann.

Hi Susan, just wonder if the family also used a variation of Lysons ie have a look at the 1841/51 for this family with a Son Francis:-

Which just happens to be exactly the same census ref as Edward/Mary & Family are on in 1851!

Thank you Claire. I believe that the Lysons in Eaton Constantine are a separate (though probably related) group. There are census records of an Edward in Westbury and one in EC simultaneously.   

Thank you Keyboard 86. I cannot believe that we missed the widowed mother in 1851; the very next entry on the page.       It all fits well, with a death of Francis Lycett registered in Atcham in 1848.

Hi Susan, glad to have found his parents, now the problem is/was find the marriage Francis to Jane!

The IGI has a marriage of Francis Lysons and Jane Thomas 20th July 1803 in Westbury. It looks promising. We are off to Shrewsbury RO next month to try to verify this and dig further but if you can help again it will be much appreciated. If only they could make their mind up about whether they are Lysons or Lycett !
