Joseph MILLARD, Somerset

Am against a brick wall here!

Searching for Joseph Millard, circa 1757 born I though in Coleford, Somerset - however, I cannot be certain of that.  He married Hannah Alder in 1774 in Shepton Mallet - however as I am in Australia, I have no idea if Coleford and Shepton Mallet are near each other or if other Somerset locations could be a possibility.  Another option is Halcombe?  Could anyone please assist me here - I would love to find out who Joseph's parents were ultimately.

Hi the only only that pops up on the IGI Pilot Search in the time frame you are looking for is:-

Joseph Millard 19th January 1755 Lullington Somerset Father Michael Mother Anne

Lullington is approx 10 miles from Coleford and approx 16 miles from Shepton Mallet.

When in doubt I always check distances via Google Maps!

Not being from the area I cannot be certain, hopefully someone from the Somerset forum will spot your brickwall and confirm or deny the above baptism!

No I think you are in the correct spot, my gut feeling is this is your man!

Give it a couple of days and if no further input request again referring to the baptism and asking if this is a likely area for a marriage in Shepton Mallet.

I am not so sure Mathew as Father of your Joseph is correct.
I cant find a Mathew born to your Joseph/Hannah (see your other post)

And a Joseph and Jane Mallard name a Son Mathew who is Christened 1786, Shepton Mallet. Jane is nee GANE and they Married 1782.

They Adean/Adeam in your Robert 1790s name must fit in earlier somewhere.
