Hello Roy G,
Many thanks for your reply. I will list the information that I have on Sarah Tetheridge, which unfortunately is not a lot. Sarah had an illegitimate son called David who was born at Croydon and baptised on 23rd Feb. 1812 at Brasted, Kent. This info was kindly given to me by a rootschat member. Shortly after that Sarah must have settled down and met Josiah Hodskin (I have not found a marriage for this couple) and they had several children. On the 1841 census they were living at Sundridge, Kent (HO 107/485/9 Sched. 33 page 9). Josiah Hodskin aged 70, Sarah Hodskin aged 60, Henry Hodskin aged 25, Henry Kilby aged 25, and Esther Tetheridge aged 15. Next door is John Tetheridge aged 45, Sarah Tetheridge 45 and children Eleanor 11, William 9, James 7, Joseph 5, Daniel 1 month. I think there is surely a family connection there. On the 1851 census Sarah was living in Sundridge, Kent a 72 year old widow living next door to her son David (now known as David Hodskins) on parish relief and giving her place of birth as Warbleton, Sussex. (HO 107/1613 sched. 409 page 12). The census does say Warbleton not Walberton. I have not been able to find the deaths of Josiah or Sarah Hodskins - which I find strange. Any suggestions or ideas you can give will be greatly appreciated.
