McKEAN, Joseph Completed

Joseph McKean, born 1841 at Edinburgh to John McKean and Catherine Ramage. Migrated to Australia Nov 1857 to Victoria. Probably had a fight with his brother William McKean also migrated 1857 at Ballarat. No ref to Joseph in any Victorian indexes. Anybody got a Joseph McKean? Thanks

Not in my family but I see on Ancestry that someone has his brother William dying at Port Campbell in 1906. His wife was Christina McKay, married Victoria in 1864 reg #3053.

Was there also a brother named Peter (married Martha Leigo 1862 reg #4163)? He was also around the Ballarat area in the 1860's per a birth record.

There is a marriage for a Joseph McKean to Mary A Sparkes in Sydney in 1876 reg #271 that might be worth pursuing. Another in 1891 to Annie Grant #968 also in Sydney.

There may have been another brother Robert McKean died Carlton in 1927, age 80.  Reg#9074.
Parents listed as John McKean and Cath Ramage.

There is a digitised will for this man.  No mention of his brother though - William leaves all to his wife Christina and his son William James
