Seeking info on Heaney/Haney family.

Hi, looking for information on the Haney/Heaney family.  All i know is my GGrandfather Peter born 1865 or 1869ish.  Any info would be great!  Thanks.

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so you could check the civil index for Peter's birth but since you aren't sure of date or spelling of surname it might be difficult to know if you've found the right person. See here for introduction to Irish records-

If Peter married the certificate might give important details such as father's name and occupation. Also, if he married in Ireland the place would help. The I.G.I. (www.familysearch.org) have some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 so you could check there if you know the name of Peter's father to make sure you have a possible match.

  IGI have a Peter Heaney born 1869, Down.  Siblings John, b 1870 and Mary b1871,
parents were Thomas Heaney and Mary Kenny.
 Are you sure he was born in Armagh?

I'm just going on what older family members say, but they said that the last name was heaney before they immigrated to the US.  Look at my grandfather's marriage cert. and just listed my Ggrandfather's name and no other infor other than he was from Ireland.  Peter Haney was married in the US, but I have yet to find the marriage cert for it yet.  As for the county Armagh, that is from what I hear family members say.  Wish I had more info to go on, was hoping I would get lucky and someone with info read the post.

I am researching a Peter Haney from County Armagh, who came to the US and married in Philadelphia, PA.  He was born around 1864 and married a Mary McDonald in Jan. 1893.  I have marriage certificate.  He had a brother John who came to the US and a sister that I think stayed in Ireland.

Correction, Peter's brother was Patrick, not John.  Sorry!

Looking for more info on Peter Heaney or Haney.  Born 1865 and immigrated to the US in 1887.  Beleive he was born in county Armagh.  Married in Philadelphia in 1893.  Think he had a brother (John or Patrick) who immigrated to the USA and also a sister who stayed in Ireland.
