bt phone books for Surrey 1926 to 1941
« on: Thursday 28 July 11 13:53 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help I am  trying to confirm information on an ancestor who is meant to have lived in surrey and I wonder if any one has access to the bt phone books for surrey for the period 1926 to 1941.
my ancestor  - george de Mauduit.
He is believed to have lived at -  woking and also at - Edgehill .
If anyone can check these directories to prove that he did live at these Surrey addresses it would be a huge help!
Regards - Luc.

NB: As my ancestor is reputed to have kept an appartment in London during the same period i will post a similar query under London/Middlesex lookup requests.

When I visited TNA at Kew several years ago,  they had Old phone books available on  their computers.

TRY the TNA web site.

We appear to be duplicating work with these two threads going  :)

thanks  rosie99 and scouseboy,

good idea scouseboy i will check it out

rosie99 thanks for the 1937 confirmation for surrey - does he appear in Surrey in other years ?

rosie99 I did not link these two posting as each one was for a specific county, but i did point out on each one that there was another posting asking the same question for a different county in an attempt to stop any chance of duplication - but  im sorry that it duplicated you kind help and your help is much appreciated.

with thanks - Luc

Not a problem Luc  :)  Hi Luc
I saw your mention of the other post, unfortunately we are probably all looking at the same phone book source and once we had put the name in it only brought up the one record for him in Woking in 1937. Once I noticed that the replies on the other thread were relating to the Woking one I thought it best to avoid further duplication.  We do get carried away with ourselves when we start looking for things.  ;D  There was only the entry for 1937.

I don't suppose you know where in Woodham Lane Georgian House is? Only curious as I used to live nearby. 8)
