Soldiers who died in the First World War - Frank Kent
« on: Monday 02 May 05 15:03 BST (UK) »
Hi!

I was hoping someone would be able to try to find Frank Kent in the
list of soldiers who died in the First World War.

Frank was born in Ceylon in about 1896. It is thought that he joined
the army in November 1915, together with his brother George Forbes
Neville Kent. George Kent joined the Machine Gun Corps, but it is not
known if Frank did likewise. It is thought that Frank died in 1916.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I was going to say that I wasn't sure if this is the Frank I was
looking for or not, as I was a bit confused by the additional
information! The Frank I am after was the son of Charles and
Charlotte Kent.

Thanks for your help anyway!

This is the site you need http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/search.aspx

There are many F Kents.  You could pick the one you think it is.

Hi!

Just to say that I've now found details of the death of 'Frank' Kent
on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.

He was actually Charles Frank Hadley Kent - named after his father,
but known by his second name - and was a Lance Corporal in the
Manchester Regiment. Sadly, he died in March 1917, aged just 20.

Hi Doug!

Thanks for that additional info.

I didn't know much about Frank before this, only that he was the
eldest child of Charles & Charlotte Ida Elizabeth Kent, who was born
in Ceylon in about 1896 and who was killed in the First World War.

It is thought that he enlisted at the same time as his brother, George
Forbes Neviile, and it is interesting to know that they joined up in London.

Thanks again!
