« on: Friday 29 July 11 15:43 BST (UK) »
Hi Please can someone look at the parish records for Long Wittenham as i do not have them for the following marriage

Albert Pope born 1877 at Aston Tirrrold to

Maud Edith Gunnning born 1879 at Long Wlttenham
 married in 1903 2/4 ref 2c 715
As you can see i have found  a ref for a marriage for Albert Pope.
Thank you Sandy

What is it you need from the PR entry for the marriage?

Have you found the couple in earlier census to have ther DoBs and PoBs - that would provide other details like parentage hopefully - or is the actual date of Marriage you need?

Sorry
I was trying to not make it too long Albert is the son of Edwin Pope and Mary Green he was born 1877 at Aston Tirrold. I think i have found him on the 1911 census living in Long Wittenham and the name of his wife is Maude born 1879 at long Wittenham and i found the following marriage ref 1903 vol2c page 715 Wallingford
Please can you send me name of both their fathers and the witness to marriage and the date of marriage
Thank you Sandy

Thats what I was trying to establish!

Sorry, cant help with the PR tho  ... just wondered if you had parents names or if you wanted something unique to the Ceremony.

If you dont have Maud E's parentage, I wonder if the 1881 census would help?

Wait one ...

Looks promising - altho in Oxfordshire back then ...

1881 census of Bensington (Wallingford District) - RG11/Piece: 1295 Folio: 32 Page: 7 @ Nook Street

James Gunning 30 Head of Household born Chipping Norton: a Maltster
Sarah Gunning 25 Wife born Oxon, Warbrough?
William Gunning 5 son Wallingford
Maude Gunning 1 dau Shillingford

might help when you do get the PR details  ;)

Hi - I have just checked the transcripts for Long Wittenham and I am afraid that the marriage was not there.  neither is the baptism for Maud.  There are 3 earlier Gunning baptims 1860 George Albert, 1861 Ellen Hester and 1864 Alice Matilda - all children of John and Martha a police constable.

That John and Martha are at Rg11 1325 93 39 in 1881, with Ellen Hester an d Alice Matilda, who are now grown up - but no toddler called Maude,
So they are unlikely to be her parents, but I am sure they are related somewhere!

Do you have an online source like FreeReg, or is that a FHS CD?
