William Harty Curtis and Annie Grace Webb
« on: Saturday 30 July 11 16:49 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for any descendants of William Harty Curtis and Annie Grace Webb.

William was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England in 1884 and emigrated to Toronto, Canada on the 28.06.1906. In Toronto he married Annie Grace Webb on the 21.07.1915. Annie was born in Bow, London, England on the 30.10.1891.

William died in Pinellas Co. Florida in 1957 and is buried in Royal Palm South Cemetery in St Petersburg, Florida. Annie, probably known as Grace, died on the 28.10.1984 in Dade County, Florida.
She is also buried in Royal Palm South Cemetery.

I think they may have had a daughter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I have tried to find obituaries for them in the hope that it may give children etc but up to now have been unsuccessful.

Hello! Is there a chance they could have been living in the USA in 1930? Have you been able to find them in that census?  Also, have you contacted the cemetery for any additional information?  Pat

There is a RAOGK Volunteer in Pinellas who will do Obituary look ups - have you tried this avenue ?  6th on the list below

Or the public library in Pinellas ?  Just checked and this was suggested on a previous thread - did you try ?

Yes. I have contacted the cemetery they suggested I try the library.

I have contacted them on two separate occasions but have heard nothing - I have been told I it would be easier if I had the exact date of death in the case of William and the exact place of death in the case of Grace.

I haven't looked on the 1930 census as I don't have access but I have no idea whether they would have been in the US or Canada.

Transcriptions of the 1930 Census, as well as the 1935 & 1945 Florida state census, are available for free at www.familysearch.org.  I didn't see a likely match for them, but maybe another pair of eyes will do better.

The Social Security Death Index has A. Curtis with the same birth & death dates and her last residence was Miami, Florida.

On www.newslibrary.com, there is a death notice for Annie Curtis in the Miami Herald dated 3 Nov. 1984.  From what I can see, it says "CURTIS, Annie, 92, of North Miami. National Cremation Society."  It's pay-per-view to see the full article, but if I recall correctly, that paper doesn't tend to have detailed obits, so what you can see for free may be it.

Many thanks for the information.

I'll also look through the censuses as well, although it's possible that they were still in Canada then.

At least I now have a bit more of the puzzle!
