Hmm... any good?
Robert Lundry Lowe, died 29 Sep 1840 Victoria (Brit Colombia)

A Robert Leycester Lowe who died somewhere in North America in 1943.

Something that happens a lot in my own family tree is people from Britain who stop off in Canada for 5-20 yrs then immigrate on to the USA; am thinking you may need to widen the net?

Form 30As for Robert and wife Mary Lowe.  They sailed 11 Aug 1921 on the Metagama.  Robert was 44, b. Shrewsbury and a bricklayer.  Destination was Toronto with Sal Army (Salvation Army) indicated below.  His British contact was his brother living in New Besford Motts and Mary's British contact was her brother Alexander Gillespie of Newburgh Aberdeen.

You can always contact the Toronto Public Library via email and use their Ask a Librarian feature to request a lookup in the Toronto directories.  That would give you an idea if they remained in Toronto.  There is also the pay site of the Toronto Star  "Pages of the Past" that you could use to look for an obituary.  Privacy laws in Canada restrict what information is available about a person's history and sources such as the above are often used to try and trace individuals.

Who were Robert's parents?

Debbie

Hi,
I don't know how long ago this conversation was, but I am currently (June, 2021) researching the family of Robert Lowe's death, and am also stumped on his death in Toronto.  Did you ever find it?  Mary did indeed remain in Toronto and died in 1953.  Her two daughters from a previous marriage did also.  I don't have anything more for him though, after their arrival in 1992 - all four together.

Not related, but what were the daughters' names? Did the daughters marry?  Did Mary remarry?Voting lists exist from 1935 on Ancestry.

Also, where are Mary and the girls buried?  Have you called the cemetery to see if Robert is buried with them?
