Thornham Parish Records

I have found a record of a John Syflet who married Margaret Grinsted at Thornham on 5.11.1732.  I also found two children Margaret (b 1736) and John (b 1738) - all found on the IGI.

I am looking for details of any other Syflets (Siflet, Sifleet etc) who were born, married or died around this time.  I am trying to link John (1738) to my grt x 5 Grandfather who married in Stockbury.  I have not been able to find any record of a baptism in Stockbury and wonder whether this was him born in Thornham.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

I wonder if Thornham is a misspelling of Thurnham?

Back some two or three years, I did a search for Syfleet to help another researcher and these are from my notes I made at the time.

St Mary’s Church Thurnham
5 November 1732 marriage between John Sysleet and Margaret Grinstead.

This is followed by these baptisms.
7 February 1733 Mary daughter of John and Mary Syfleet
5 January 1735 Elizabeth daughter of John and Mary Syfleet
28 November 1736 Margaret daughter of John and Margaret Syfleet
2 January 1739 John son of John and Margaret Syfleet
26 April 1741 William son of John and Margaret Syfleet
8 December 1745 Sarah daughter of John and Margaret Syfleet

My notes do not indicate any earlier records for Thurnham but my notes show a baptism for a John at St Mary’s Church Stockbury.
2 April 1693 John son of Samuel and Susanah Syflet

What I failed to do was note who it was I helped which is a pity as it may be they are connected to you but maybe they will read your post and contact you.

Please accept my apologies for not responding earlier.  I have just returned from holiday and realised I didnt reply to you.

Many thanks for the information.  I feel reasonably confident that these are the Syfleet's I am looking for, but will only 'pencil' them into my tree for now as I cannot be 100% certain.

I really do appreciate your help - this has been a bit of a brick wall for some time know and I feel that maybe I'm starting to chip away at it now
