I tried first thinking if John Gillespie the father was alive 1858-1864, there is a good chance that one of these Griffith Valuation Co Antrim civil parish records might trace him to a place. I have even included that part of Belfast in Co Antrim ie Shankill
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation then one could try the same parishes some 30 years earlier, starting with
http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/antrim/tithe-applotments/ahoghill-parish.php#.VmHSvkvBEYU Call these TAB results 1823-1838
Ahoghill TAB Glaspy, Samuel Townland: Limnahary Year: 1825
Ballylinny no Gillespie
Ballywillin no Gillespie
Carnmoney no Gillespie
Drummaul no Gillespie
Finvoy TAB Gillespie, Geo. Townland : Vow Upper Year: 1834
Finvoy TAB Gillespie, James Townland : Vow Upper Year: 1834
Glenwhirry not recorded
Nilteen, Grange Of under Donegore No Gillespie
Shankill TAB Gillespie, David Townland : Cullentree Year: 1826
Well that’s a disappointing result, one could go though the rest of the civil parishes in the TABs but the purpose is to find a location that can be attached to some church records.
If he was stiill alive in 1858-1864, then at least you still have a chance of getting that location. My TAB results also means that John could be living with a relative eg father and not listed Donna tou could follow my route for Gilmore records if you both havent already done so.
Good luck
