Hello
I'm trying to find the death of Laura May Maxon/Maxton[ or even other corruptions of this name]
In 1959 she was living at
Flat 6
23 Brunswick Sq
Hove
Sussex.
Her Husband was Andrew William Maxon.Not sure if he was still alive then.
From the 1911 Census I know she was born1900/1901 but on her marriage certificate she gave 1908!Andrew was born 1913.
I hope someone can "find" either of them.I subscibe to International Ancestry but even thats not thrown anything up
I would be most grateful for any suggestions

I have a 1970 Kelly's directory for Brighton & Hove and Andrew W Maxton is listed at 23B Brunswick Square.

Thanks very much for that.I know Kelleys usually just listed head of household so maybe Laura was also alive in1970.Ancestry has not been very good with this name and I haven't been able to use our local BMDs[Sheffield} as our Archives have been shut for almost a year for restoration.So your effort is much appreciated.

I have been looking for Laura`s Death on Findmypast.

Is it possible she moved to the Eastbourne district after 1970 ?

What was her maiden name ? so to try and find her birth.

Thank you for looking on FindMyPast.It is possible that she moved around.She was born in Woolwich as Laura May Barker to Robert James Barker and Isobella Smith.She travelled to Canada in 1929 with sister Mabel Alice Barker who again I cant find any death records for I believe she remained single b.1904.Laura married Andrew Maxon/Maxton in York and was the informant on her fathers death certificate living at this Hove address.

I found Laura`s birth.

The Laura i found in Eastbourne was to old.

There were entries in the British Phone books for :
A W Maxton in the York directorory in 1956 at 39 St Paul's Square, York
A W Maxton in the York directorory in 1963 and 1964 at 39 St Paul's Square, York

Thank you for this information about York.The mystery deepens.Laura was definitley at the Hove address in 1959 and Andrew W Maxton was there in 1970 but they did marry in York so may have had some connection I will have to dig around in York and see if it throws anything up
