Hi all, I would be grateful if anyone can spare the time to look up a burial in Luton for me please.
Details are Alice Day, died June quarter 1933 Luton aged 67. Trying to work out if this Alice could be my g-grandmother by hopefully finding out who, if anyone, is buried with her. So if burial for Alice is recorded in either General Cemetery (Rothsay Road) or Church Cemetery (Crawley Green Road) in Luton, it would be brilliant if other names could be checked for same grave ID number. Apart from Day, other possible names are Mason and Brown.
Many thanks in advance. Regards, TonyR.
PS A little background if anyone is interested:
My g-grandmother Alice Rhodes married George Day in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancs 1885. When 2 of her sons were killed in WW1, her address was recorded on CWGC as 9 Stockingstone Road, Luton which I believe is nowadays in LU2.
The electoral roll has an Alice Mason living at this address late 1920s – early 1930s with a John Robert Brown, which by co-incidence is the name of Alice Day’s son-in-law! Recently made contact with descendant of this John Robert Brown on GR & their opinion was that this Alice Mason was indeed Alice Day. At some time she had ‘lived’ with a chap named Mason on a farm in Warden Hills Luton & taken his name of Mason. Apparently this Mason chap then left & Alice moved in with son-in-law to look after his children (her grand-kids). This Brown descendant knows no more on Alice.
Cannot find any Alice Mason deaths in Luton but open to correction.
