Can anyone read this????
« on: Tuesday 03 May 05 19:25 BST (UK) »
Hi, am going to attempt to attach copy of a birth certificate.

It is of my grgr grandma ( I hope she is mine anyway!) Phoebe Scotland b. July 1845, I can make out the address, 50 Bond Street Liverpool.

Cannot make out the mothers name, and am struggling with the fathers name, should be John, but deff looks like James to me!. ;D

Hope someone can work out what it says.
Keren ???

Father's name definitely looks like James.

Mother Margaret Scotland, formerly Critchley

(In my humble opinion  ;D ;D)

 ;D  Thank you all.

so now what do I do!! only 3 Phoebe Scotlands born in Liverpool around the 1844 - 1845 period, and the other 2 belong to the lady who passed me the birth data for this one, which we assumed would be mine!!!

Have a big problem with Johns, (non of them exist on the BMD) this is the 4th one I am looking for, did they use John and James ad hoc???? Or do I say this is not my Phoebe and wait for more info to become available on BMD?????

No trace of John or James Scotland on BMD or for Margaret Critchely, well not for Liverpool anyway.

Have a Phoebe in the 1861 census working at The Bee Lime Street Liverpool age 16, so I am going to claim her as mine! and go and find my Smith relatives from Manchester, have to be easier as there are thousands I can claim!!.

Thank you all again, and am I in trouble for showing too much info??? never thought about that, was just really excited that I managed to scan and copy.

I've got a question.  ;D

Is that what i'd get if i ordered a birth certificate from http://www.gro.gov.uk ?

On the site they list the fees and there's the option to get a Full certificate and a Short (abbreviated) certificate what exactly is the difference, they don't say on the site.

On the freeBMD is says what could be on the birth certificate is..

District, Date & Place of Birth,
Child's ForeNames & Surname, Child's Sex,
Father's Name, Fathers Place of Birth, Father's Occupation,
Mother's Name, Mother's Occupation, Mother's Place of Birth, Mother's Usual Address,
Informant's Name, Informants Qualification, Informant's Address, Informant's Signature,
Date of Registration,Registrar's Name & Signature,
Child's Revised Name (if any, after registration).

But looking at the picture posted here, i see there's not much use in me ordering one if that's all you get. I was hoping there'd be more info on the parents.  :-[

What usually do you get if you order a full certificate?

You are not going to find the birth of James Scotland or of Margaret Critchley on the BMD because they would both have been born before 1837. 8)
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
