26th,46th foot
« on: Monday 15 August 11 21:04 BST (UK) »
Greetings;
It has been stated in the research papers that David Drummond (born 1774)
served in the 26th foot and the 46th foot.
I was wondering if it was possible that this is the same man who served in two regiments or
 another Drummond.

hi Rosemary  :)

i've had a look at the National Archives records
the only records i can see relating to those regiments are -

david drummond born paisley renfrewshire(scotland)
served 26th foot regiment
discharged aged 32
date 1803 - 1817(born 1785 ?)
(this man may also have been in the 4th royal veteran battalion , date 1817)

david drummond born annan dumfries'shire(scotland)
served 46th foot regiment
discharged age 48
date 1799 - 1822(born 1774 ?)

if the second david drummond is your david then i think it would mention if he
served in the 26th foot as well  :-\

unless the research papers have any other evidence ?

ev,
interesting that you turned up two david drummonds!
now i need to lock down my resources.
i think the older drummond is the one since he should be old enough to have a daughter of marriageable age in 1818.
i have been trying to understand where the 46thfoot david drummond
 would have met and known
the 18th foot mccarron enough to permit his daughter to marry the irishman.

thanks for all your responses---and hope those puppys have had their walk!
