Ann Pate
« on: Monday 15 August 11 22:07 BST (UK) »
Seeking info on ANNE PATE (from Wales) who married Singleton Wilson in Warren, Georgia, USA, on Feb. 24, 1838.  She is my ggggrandmother. We know nothing about her family or the circumstances around her immigration.  Jacob Henry Wilson is her son. I am descended through him and Sarah Winford Wilson. US Census records for Jacob Henry Wilson state his mother was from Wales.

Do you have a possible birthyear for her?

Hi SStrick,
Pate is not a common surname in Wales if anywhere; Peate is perhaps a little less uncommon, and is, I believe, pronounced 'pate' by some. Searching for 'Peate' might open a few doors for you.
                        Best of luck,
                                            Pinot  :)

You could be onto something Pinot.I must admit I looked at this earlier but didn't think of the Peate name variation. Both surnames were to be found in the Hanmer/Overton area of what was once Flintshire.

I do not know any dates except marriage.  Her son Jacob Henry Wilson was born June 14, 1833 or 1839. I am  making an assumption that she may have been born 1818-1822. But this is an ASSUMPTION.
