look-up Burial Record Leicester-PARR
« on: Tuesday 16 August 11 15:42 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me, I'm working on the family tree for my mother in law and would like to find the burial record of her Uncle.
I'm looking for any burial information on

Gordan Thomas James Parr,

born 1918 in Leicester and died Jan-Feb-March of 1924, in Barrow upon Soar.  At the time I know the family were living in East Short Street, Leicester.   His mother was Doris Parr (nee Bowles) and his father was Thomas Walter Parr.

I have ordered his death certificate from the GRO, but any information will be a help as I'm not from Leicester and I haven't got a clue where to start!

 Thanks Claire

the Barrow on Soar records are online at the Leics villages site:

http://www.leicestershirevillages.com/barrowuponsoar/availablechurchandbu.html

he is not listed in Barrow cemetery records so prob not buried there.

Thanks, I've checked Barrow records, I just find it weird that he died in Barrow, but I know for certain his family was living in Leicester, near the city centre. The only other bit of info I've got is that he may have a died from diphtheria, was there a isolation hosptial in the Leicestershire area.
Thanks Claire

yes - think the hospital my dad stayed in years ago when he had glandular fever - up in Charnwood forest. definately one in Markfield:

“The old Markfield Hospital was the Leicestershire Isolation Hospital - purpose built out in the countryside so the patients would benefit from the fresh countryside air.”

markfield to barrow = 7 miles

if they were living in leicester at the time of death chances are hes buried in leicester = guess Mike will be able to help there...

OK I have more information on Gordan Thomas Parr, he died, at the age of 5  on the 22/2/1924 at the isolation hospital on Gilroes road.  If anyone can  look-up the burial records for me, or help me at all, it would be greatly appreciated.

Greeting’s …Folks

I believe you might have ½ answered your own question here . ……

Your quote. …. “ 22/2/1924 at the isolation hospital on Gilroes road.”

Unquote. ….

It seems it would follow that he was laid to rest within
" Gilroes Cemetery / Crematorium “

Unfortunately the Leicester City Council
have the sole rights to all the records for Gilroes for now. ...

So it will be the best part of two years before the details are made available  on a CD  via Leicester / Rutland Family History Society.
Who at this moment are busy typing the details up. …..

MIKE. …..
