the BURDEN Family Tree
« on: Thursday 18 August 11 22:01 BST (UK) »
Would somebody please see if they can find the parents/ siblings of William Burden born c.1776 in Allcannings Wiltshire. He married Sarah Anne Hibbert on 22 june 1801 in Etchilhampton Wiltshire. I would be so grateful for any information on this.
Kindest regards.

Hi Jacqui,

A Big Welcome to RootsChat.  ;D

I have just been looking at the IGI where I note numerous submitted entries. These entries have been submitted by members of the LDS Church and do need to be verified in the parish records. I mention this as the marriage date you have supplied seems to have come from submitted material. (some submitted entries stating Etchilhampton others All Cannings)

The extracted marriage entry reads

William BURDEN = Sarah HIBBARD 28 Jun 1800 Etchilhampton.

Does the assumption that William was born in All Cannings also come from these submitted entries?

Extracted Baptism Entry

William BURDEN was baptised 20 Dec 1778 Etchilhampton parents Robert and Sarah

again this date has been included in submitted entries stating All Cannings with parents Robert BURDEN and Sarah CHICK

Cheers Kris  :)

I have to date only located submitted entries for the marriage of Robert BURDEN and Sarah CHICK (30 Jan 1776 Etchilhampton.) Again we only have her name through submitted entries so this will need to be checked.

Extracted Records for other baptisms to Robert and Sarah in Etchilhampton (Please note that the extracted records do not provide a surname for Sarah.)

Mary 21 Sep 1781
Anne 24 Oct 1784

Extracted Records have been transcribed from the original parish records and are generally quite reliable.

Cheers Kris  :)

I have just returned from holiday and found your post. thank you so much for taking the time to help my request. the information about William was found by my cousin ( who Ive only just found by researching my tree). he passed some information on to me so maybe he picked up the information from a submitted record.
You have helped enormously and i am very grateful. i will use your information for further research. i have been given the name of the church wardon for the church william was married in. i will try to see if he can also find information and records. i have copious amounts of snippets of details about the Burden's but non varified.
Once again, many thanks Kris!!
kindest regards
