Given that Bernard was married in Co. Tyrone, in Ballinderry less than 10 miles from Kildress, I would say it would be safe to assume that this record is more likely, unless there was some other reason for Bernard to be born in Kilkeel Co. Down

Hi,
I have found the marriage of Bernard McVeigh and Jane McNally in Magherafelt Roman Catholic Church on 15 May 1878.

Thank you joemc

Yes it would seem likely.

Their children are listed as being born in 1879 in Ballygillen, Londonderry, Ireland, 1880 in Bellagherty, Londonderry, Ireland, 1882 in Ballyronan, Magherafelt, County Derry & 1884 in Magherafel, county derry.

So are all these places relatively near each other ?

Thank you kingskerswell
Did it mention any other information ? also what that 15 May or 15 of May.
I have seen other information that says 15 March 1878

Bernard McVeigh's father from the marriage in Magherafelt was a Patrick McVeigh.

Although in different Counties the parishes of Artrea (where Ballygillen and Ballyronan are situated) is close to the border with County Tyrone, the Parish of Ballinderry sits either side of the County line and adjacent to the Parish of Artrea, the Parish of Kildress is also close to the border with County Derry in the same area.

I am a little confused :-[

You said that "The Bernard McVey you mention in Co. Tyrone baptised 1855 father is Bernard McVey, his mothers name was Rachel McVey, Kildress RC Church"

Yet if this is the same Bernard McVeigh why is his father from the marriage in Magherafelt a Patrick McVeigh ?

Totally confused sorry.... :-[

The facts I have are that:

(1) On my grandmothers birth certificate it says that Patrick McVeigh & Margaret McGuire are her parents
(2) I Purchased a 1904 Marriage record for a Patrick McVeigh & Margaret McGuire which quotes his father is Bernard.
(3) On the 1901 census it shows Patrick McVeigh with his mother Jane.
(4) Patricks Birth record shows Bernard McVey & Jane McAnally as parents.
(5) I Purchased a Church marriage record of Bernard McVeigh to a Jane M'nally with no fathers name 15 Mar 1878.

Thalliwell,
Have double checked my source and it says 15 May. This could be a transcription error on my source.

The 2 Marriage records are for the same marriage, the record of Bernard McVeigh = Jane McNally 1878 Ballinderry (RC) is the church record, no parents names given, the record for Magherafelt is the Civil record of the same marriage (which includes fathers name) the Roots Ireland site uses both sources so there will be repetition of marriage records.

The birth record for Bernard McVey, father Bernard may be from a different marriage

If so then the only birth record that there is on http://www.rootsireland.ie/  is in 1850 in County Tyrone...
