The KELSALL family - Stretford
« on: Wednesday 04 May 05 17:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has a connection with the Kelsalls of Manchester (my grandmother's family).I have recently obtained a well researched family tree for them that goes back to Jonathan Kelsall in Stretford in 1736 and it includes all of his Kelsall descendents to the present day.

Regards,Mick ;)

Hi Mick

I have Kelsalls in Ashton on Mersey & Sale - tree goes back to Ashton Kelsall b 1740 m Martha Renshaw.  Just down the road from Stretford - wonder if we have any connections?  Other family names - Goodier, Barlow, Wilkinson, Layton (Leighton) and Dean.

Did any of your KELSALL's live in Pendleton Salford?

A James KELSALL married Hannah WINSTANLEY at  St Mary's Eccles in 1890.

I would be interested in any connections with these Pendleton families

I don't think so.  But some of the family were non conformist.  They had to marry in the parish churches of course in the early days, but some of mine seem to have been Methodist.  It is difficult to tell - I haven't researched the Quaker records - do you have any info how I would do this?

Hi Gwyneth

I have sent you a Personal Message giving an
outline of My Kelsalls.

They married into my Pye line but names associated with the Quakers were Winder,
Towsend, Cragg.

I think at sometime they married out and my
line are no longer Quakers.

My 3 x great grandmother was Mary Kelsall daughter of John Kelsall (1797-1850) of Stretford and Margaret Holt 1798-1839  (although I am the only person in the world who believes she was Margaret Holt).
