No, it's unlikely that is the same Ann - the one from the census probably was born around 1807.

Thomas' parents, William and Mary, probably married in Horsham on 18 Dec 1759, by Licence issued at Chichester on 17 Nov 1759.

William Ludby 27, bach of Petworth, Cordwainer
Mary Peacock, 23 sp of Horsham

No obvious baptism for him: his name maybe spelt wrongly.
There are no baptisms in Horsham for Mary either.

I saw someone have spelling "Realf" or "Realff"

When you say family nextdoor, you mean one of their children?  Charles and James are Ludby, too?

Great.  Thank you.  I saw it spelled Ludbie once.

This Matilda Yeomans Ludby is my mother's mother's
mother's mother's mother's mother's mother.  Direct maternal line.  :)

I'd like to keep it going, and find out about Jane.

I found a Christening for son of Thomas and Matilda:
James Ludby in St. Mary's Broadwater Parish, 28 Jun 1818.

That looks like the James Ludby living nextdoor to them in 1841.  Ages are rounded down to nearest 5 in 1841 eg 20 is 20-24, 25 25-29 etc, no relationships are given on this census. The family may have moved from Petworth via Nutbourne (presumably the one near Pulborough) to Broadwater then Brighton. You say Thomas and Matilda were buried in Petworth? Their death certificates would show where they actually died.

Looking again I think their daughter Ann's married name is probably Realff

William Lander was apprentice to William Ludby of Petworth  cordwainer in 1770

Joseph Cheeseman was apprentice to William Ludby junior of Petworth cordwainer in 1788

A possible for William Ludby's apprenticeship

William son of Thomas Ludby apprentice to James Tilly of Fittleworth cordwainer 1749

That's good, Jan.  Thank you.  Should we look for the elder Thomas in Petworth, as well?
