I am assuming for Ada to be so far away from home, Barnet, at such a young age, her parents may have died.  Although looking at the 1911 index, an Ada Allen in resident in Barnet of the correct age, so it looks as if she had returned.  Which to me means close enough family remaining to give her a reason to go back.

However, her father, is not noted as deceased on her marriage of 1918, so perhaps it was just her mother who died and her father couldn't cope.

Any deaths for a William Alfred Allen or Anna Maria Allen in the Barnet area?

Regards

KA

Have you checked freebmd?

Have you checked the 1911 entry to see who she is living with?

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

The 1911 census is strictly pay per view so you will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same name in the same household

How spiffy is that!   ;D

Many thanks for the info.  I've searched and looking at the ages, found possible siblings.

I have found Anna Maria's death in 1939.  However can't find another sighting of William Alfred Allen.  I'm wondering if he absconded.

Thanks.

But the free 1911 index shows Ada Kate Allen aged 24 living in Eastbourne Sussex

Using the instructions in my previous reply does not show anybody else surname Allen in the household
