I'm pretty sure that this is Henry on the GV in Mullingar, Westmeath.

I just purchased the burial of Eliza Sherlock in 1886 via the Glasnevin website. It says "had been a carpenter's wife"!!

She's also buried with -

Jane Divine, aged 30, 20 Jan 1865
Thomas Magon, aged 58, 4 Nov 1897
Margaret Mahon, aged 77, 26 Jul 1918

Eliza's informant was Bridget :)

OH FAB

Emotional here 'cause we now have an occupation for Henry which brings him nicely to life  ;D

Going by the names though I'm afraid that it appears to be a paupers grave as the other people are not related.

OK SO

Elizabeth Sherlock's maiden name was COX !

I have just found a petty session record for here where in 1856 she got into a bit of trouble in Mullingar . . .

SO

she got into a bit of a fight (don't panic we ALL have these records on our trees)

BUT

What's GREAT about it is that the fight was with a Richard & Rose COX !

Now you have more Mullingar family to work on !

How Great is this !

In 1858 Henry Sherlock and a group of neighbours were being thrown out by their landlord but there is a petty session record says that they were refusing to surrender their possession of the houses.

Given that Bridget was born in 1858 in Mullingar and the next time we see the family is in 1861 in Dublin, it would appear that the Landlord got this way and hence this is the reason why your family made the big move to Dublin.

It would appears that Henry Sherlock had a brother called Joseph.

Here is his will !

They just love getting in a bit of trouble don't they  ::)

I assume Richard and Rose are her parents maybe? There is a Richard Cox on the link you sent for the GV!
