Completed - Can he be world war 2? Welsh Guards Uniform Query
« on: Friday 02 September 11 16:28 BST (UK) »
Hi
This is believed to be Fred Vizard, who was born in 1920 and served with Welsh Guards, before being captured and sent to polish prisoner of war camp...appearing again after war.
It has been suggested that possibly the uniform is too old for second world war? I understand older uniforms were handed out early in war, old stock. Can anybody with knowledge of Welsh guards confirm that the uniform is of ww2 period or is of sightly older type that could have been handed out in early days?

Thanks:
Seth

Its quite possible early war that hes wearing older pattern battledress

Shoulder title looks late 30s early 40s

You should be able to get copies of his records but they are probably still with MOD
