Isaac Saward
« on: Monday 05 September 11 00:23 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm Looking for information about Issac Saward. Born 1789. I have found a number of others of this name but they were all born at a later date. According to thev 1841 census he was living in Bocking Essex. I almost certain he was born around the Saffron Walden area. He had a daughter Matilda. I would be most grateful for any other informatin regrding this person.

He appears on 1871 census and then must have died shortly after 1871 census was taken -there is a death reg on freeBMD which looks a strong possibility to be the same Issac

Have you noticed on 1841 census there is a Henry age 15 in same household and living in same dwelling but separately are Wiliam Saqward 27 ag lab, Sarah 25, Rachel 3 and Ellen 1

I wondered if William was Isaac's son too

Next door are Henry Saward 45, Jemima 45,Thomas 13, Henry 12, Hannah 9,Emily 5-maybe related?

LDS batch for Bocking Independent has no baptism of Isaac Saward,1738-1857 however there are many other Sawards,Sewards and Saywards, perhaps trawling through the batch may pick up an odd spelling.

You can view the original parish records for Bocking on the SEAX Essex Archives site - on Image no. 131:

Saward, Isaac son of Abraham and Mary  b.6/4/1787, bp.10/4/1787.

Also found a dau. Ann bp.22/6/1784, and son Abraham Isaac b.12/12/1785, bp.26/12/1785.

I only looked at a few pages but there are no doubt other entries for children born to Abraham and Mary and the records on SEAX might also show a baptism for Abraham and his marriage to Mary.

NBI shows that Abraham Saward bc.1752 bur.3/12/1829 Bocking aged 77)
2 possibles for his wife Mary: bur.23/10/1808 Bocking aged 53 (bc.1755)
                                               bur.10/6/1836 Bocking aged 82 (bc.1754)
