Rodgers or Rogers/Elder
« on: Monday 05 September 11 19:09 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for information on Thomas Rodgers who married on the 30/10/1893 to an Annie Elder in Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church Belfast.  On the marriage certificate his father was Robert Rodgers a Carter and Thomas was a lamplighter.
Thomas appears in 1901 census as Rodgers, and in 1911 census as Rogers and it states that he was born in Co Tyrone.
I would be grateful for any further information on Robert Rodgers/Rogers and family etc.,
Many thanks, Betty

Hi Betty

Can't be sure with the information you have but this birth would be a possibility:

Thomas James 1867, father Robert Rodgers mother Margaret Smith, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, unfortunately don't see Robert in the 1901 Census may have died by then so can't confirm against occupation.

Trying again with Thomas Rodgers married 30.10.1893 to Annie Elder.
According to marriage cert he was a lamplighter and his father Robert was a carter.
According to 1901 census Thomas was 28, in 1911 he was 42 and still a lamplighter, I thought he was born 18.11.1867 to Robert Rodgers and Margaret Smith, but now I don't think this was his parents, can anyone help?

I have finally found the death of Thomas Rodgers!!
He died aged 80 in 1949 at 161 Donegal Road, Belfast, this would suggest that he was born about 1869 in Co. Tyrone. On marriage cert his father was Robert Rodgers a carter, can anyone help me with this...

Thank you Joemc,
You did post this before and I got very excited, but when I researched it further, it wasn't my Thomas, but thank you for trying to help me.
