It's worth mentioning that the lady who posted this request on another board said that she had checked Somersham parish register at Huntingdon Archives and had drawn a blank

In the good old days before the internet you would have got a map and a compass and stuck the sharp point in the place you expected the person to have been baptised and drew a circle with, say, a 5 mile radius. Then you checked all the parish registers in that circle. If that failed, you increased the radius of the circle and repeated the process.

The principle still holds good

The post on the other board mentioned that Joseph subsequently lived in Chatteris in Cambs, which is 5 miles from Somersham but with no parishes in between. He wasn't baptised in Chatteris.
