Edit to Add .... Can you show he is no longer alive?  I have NSW born rellies who are alive and who were born before your chap was born.   As they are living, they have the right to the expectation to privacy, and they are quite strict in that expectation.  You and I have that same right.  RChat is not about finding information about living people.

At the National Archives of Australia's website, there's the index showing his service no., his full name, date and place of birth and his nominated next of kin.  The records have not been digitised, perhaps because no one has sought for that, or perhaps if sought, they were unable to confirm that he was not still living.


The barcode reference is :  4560552

Is it possible that the information that had been in the OP on the other thread (it has since been edited and the exact date removed) was sourced from the NAA's online index?

Has it been established that he is no longer living?

I cannot establish if he is still living or not. I really only wanted his parents names as I am researching his brother  John Thomas Wood who was born in 1922, who is passed away. To get details of their families ancestors for a friend who doesnt know anything about his family history except his fathers name, John Thomas Wood and when he died. His mother never married his father and he doesnt have many details etc etc. He is very excited to now know his grand parents names. Also I can now go backwards and get him more info.

I am sorry if you think I have done something wrong by asking, but I dont really know if Johns brother is alive or not.

The death certificate for JOHN THOMAS WOOD will show his parents' names.

If it is known when JOHN died as you say on your thread  then your friend can acquire the certificate.

Here you will see that death  certificates after 1980 are available to people mentioned on the certificate which he must surely be as a son.
