Arthur Robinson died Feb 1902 South Africa
« on: Friday 09 September 11 09:57 BST (UK) »
Not a direct ancestor of mine but some information might inspire a 2nd cousin to get involved!

Said to have died at Heilbron Hospital, aged about 22, so I am assuming a Boer war casualty, but I have not been able to find the hospital.

Can anyone (without too much trouble) tell me anything about him?

(or let me know where to look)

thanks.
Richard Wernham (Berkshire 18th century),
William Hissey (1805 to 1813, Hampstead Norris),
Kapirin (Siberia 19th Century),
Kitching 1850,
Mary Howse born 1806 ish,
Chris Truelove marr. John Pocock 2-7-1696, Kintbury, Berks

Do you know where he was born? And when?
Do you know what regiment he was in?

Had a quick look on FindMyPast, but 68 Arthur Robinsons found!
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Did he have a middle name or was he just plain Arthur?

Assuming the latter and looking at Boer War deaths on FindMyPast there's a shortlist of 4 (just gives A Robinson and no date of death without paying your money)

- 1st Yorkshire Regt
- 2nd Somerset LI
- 20th Bty RFA
- 2nd Royal Warks Regt

Heilbron hospital was presumably in Heilbron  ;)

I'll check the full casualty roll for you later unless someone else gets there first.

17698 Driver A.Robinson, 20th Battery Royal Field Artillery fits the bill.
Died of disease at Heilbron 16 Feb 1902

Can't confirm his first name, but seems to be your chap.  :)

:) Thanks Neil1821, that is him.  Thanks also for the link to Heilbron, these 2 pieces of information will help me produce an enticing story (I hope)
