Shortwood House Farm Faxton Lamport
« on: Saturday 10 September 11 20:20 BST (UK) »
My great grandfather Joseph Coulthard Crosthwaite, a farmer,  is listed in the 1911 census at Shortwood. He had been a farmer in Cumberland, moving to Harrington and then Shortwood. Can anyone tell me about the place?
His wife Rebecca Crosthwaite died in 1933 and the address on her will is Holly Lodge Finedon.
I have a photo of him outside one of the properties  but not sure which it is ! Can anyone recognise it?

Hi clarysage.

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

The building is not Shortwood House.

It used to be the home of Lady Susan Farr.

Thanks!
I suspect they must have lived in a farm on the estate. perhaps as managers. The census says Shortwood House Farm. Will have a look and see if there are seperate details for the house.
The mystery remains!

My Grandfather John Chambers owned Shortwood House in the 1950s and sold it early in the 1960s. Attached is a photo of it from about 1958.
