Local papers may list him as a POW...You say you have his record is a Service Record or just a medal index card?
If its a service record it should mention him a POW?

The ICRC (RED Cross have records also but v expensive and long wait as they are doing preservation on archive http://www.icrc.org/web/forms/webforms.nsf/F_Archive?OpenForm&ParentUNID=FC2FA71E2991A657C12572E200322DD7

HI Ady

I found his service record on A... but its not very clear and I didn't see any info on being a POW. Thanks for the info on the red cross - will have a look.

regards

I guess this is the chap indexed in the Ancestry Service Records as Harold Worttington, born abt 1896, of Carlton/Earlton Rd, Nottingham?

If so, you need to look at Ancestry image# 38707 (Statement of Services):

"Posted Missing 21 Mar 1918" while serving as Private 203283 with 2/5th Bn Notts & Derby Regiment.
Confirmed "Pris. of War 21 Mar 1918".
"Posted Home Repatriated 6-12-18".

Hope this helps!
Adrian
