Tannadice local knowledge?
« on: Monday 12 September 11 17:52 BST (UK) »
I'm researching Lindsays who are variously listed in Tannadice OPRs of the 1760s/70s as being from:

'Auchquhoble' or 'Quhoble' or 'Whoble' or 'Jachoble' ... I am guessing that they are one in the same place and probably the name of a farm/croft as I know 'Auch' means field ... but does anyone have any other ideas/knowledge?

I can't see anything resembling this name on later maps or census returns ...

Thanks!

can't say i'm 100% on that  but you never know with early records
as you state nothing else looks close on later records  :)

I reckon you're spot on, just reading about it now, looks as if it shows as Glenogil on a modern map ... thanks again.
