I am researching John HEADY, born c 1822, Co Monaghan, son of Bernard HEADY.
I have would like to be able to establish a precise date of birth or find any other information about his parents and/or his early years. He joined the Royal Sappers and Miners in Co Monaghan in 1847 and died in Sydney Australia on 01/11/1908.

his army record says he attested on the 6th february 1847 aged 24 and 8/12 years

Thank you for this. I had accessed his military record, and from it estimated birth to be 1822, but hoped to get a more exact date. It seems that this is probably as close as I'll get.
